And then it was a barrage. He was so funny because he would be carrying away in French and when he couldn't think of a word he would turn to me and whisper it in English. I would translate and he would just keep on going. Of course his explanations of things were simple and he just assumed that Arnaud knew what he was talking about.

Apparently his favorite thing was the Science Museum in London. I would recommend it to anyone travelling with kids to London. It has many hands-on exhibits and Julien had a ball running from one contraption to another. We went on a Saturday though so he had to be patient waiting his turn. That said, it wasn't too crowded for a weekend. They also have a really gift store and book store. We spent a lot of time in those.

Another favorite spot was Hamley's. One of the biggest toy stores in the world. Floor after floor of every toy and game imaginable. Melissa bought him a Lego firetruck (what else?). He of course would've liked a million other things as well!

We made it to London

<trackback:ping>http://blogs.provost.org/michelle/services/trackbacks/2562.aspx</trackback:ping>

After waking up bright and early (why we say bright is beyond me since it was pitch black outside!) Julien and I were off to the airport. After getting our bag checked and we had passed security. Julien says to me "Now we take the bus, get on the plane and then we'll be at Melissa's house". Ah, if only it was that simple. The flight went amazingly well. Between "A Shark's Tale", "Mulan" and cartoons, Julien was glued to the tiny tv screen in front of him. And he was mesmerized by the new Rescue Hero toy I got him before we left. We wasn't allowed to open it until he got on the plane so it was the joy of a new toy.

The pilot kept telling us that we were making good time and would probably arrive early. The only problem with that is when we actually got to the London area there were no time slots to land. So we circled for about an hour and ended up being 45 minutes late. Of course that's when Julien decided to fall asleep. I woke him up but a groggy child does not want to walk off a plane. Then comes the waiting at immigration. You would think that they would put more agents but no - 5 is enough for a full line of people. So we ended up spending another 45 minutes there. By the time we got out and got our bag we met up with Melissa at about 10:15. Julien was so happy to see her as was I.

Today we are taking it easy at Melissa's house. She and Piers are both working and out. So Julien and I walked to the little village near their house. I got some money at an ATM because I had forgotten to change money at the airport. And then we went to a nearby playground. Thank goodness for the maps Mel and Piers drew for us. Tomorrow we plan on going out to Hampton Court and then to the school where Mel works which is right across the street.
