There is a wealth of Indian influences around us here in Seattle. Hadley's buddy at school's name is Siddharth. It is not uncommon to see two or three women in beautiful silk saris in a day. I sight that will never grow old. I am secretly or not so secretly sort of obsessed with Indian culture. So I was not at all surprised to see Hadley sporting a Bindi yesterday and this morning.
I asked her if she knew what it was and she said "It's my bindi." We looked it up together (all hail the Internet!) and when I read "Traditionally it is a dot of red color applied in the center of the forehead close to the eyebrows" she pulled off the purple jewel she had placed there and ran to get her red marker.
She asked me to fix it and I obliged.
She rocked her bindi at her Harry Potter Camp all day. The camp was a success, by the way. My expectations were completely different than hers of course. I expected JK Rowling herself to show up but Hadley was satisfied with a paper wand, lots of playing and story telling and art.
While she discovered her inner Hermoine, Peter and I took Finn to see "Where is the Green Sheep?" downtown. Leading up to the theater there were sheep painted on the sidewalk to follow all the way to the theater. This was genius. We just kept running from one sheep to the next.
The play was specifically for children 1-4 years old and it was so darling. At the end of the play, they finally found the green sheep. He was sleeping. And very very soft.
So cute. Finn, you are a breath of fresh air. Actually you're more of a blast of fresh air, but fresh air nonetheless.
Special shoutouts to the Valentinas for joining us. You made the morning so much brighter!
And a special nod to PGP. I adore you, lovey.
