32 Entropy Lane
A place of disorder and randomness, otherwise known as my life

When EKD was in town a few weeks ago, she mentioned wanting to see this movie  Once. I looked it up and was immediately intrigued.

Tuesday night I went to see it alone. Going to movies alone might be one of my most favorite things. Well, going to the movies in general, but going alone is like meditation. Pure escapism. After taking a few deep breaths I melted into the seat in the dark coolness of the theater. Alone.

The movie was brilliant. I was completely enchanted. There's really no good way to explain it other than saying it's like a really long music video, of a whole album. The film is low budget and is shot with what feels like a handheld, which makes everything feel so real. At times, you almost feel like you're spying on the two main characters, who by the way, never exchange names. I didn't really notice actually until it was almost over.

There was a scene in the beginning where they collaborate on a song after first meeting and it was astounding. I was a little bit breathless while watching it. That connection between two people who are making something brilliant is palpable.

It was lovely.
