So my big anniversary present to Peter was that I booked a room at the W downtown for us on Saturday night. He had no idea. He thought we were just going out to dinner but we pulled up to the W and I spilled the beans. It all worked out spleeeendiiiddddlllly. We had a fantastic time. We are actually considering doing this every 6 months. I think ALL parents should. While it wasn't even 24 hours we were gone, it felt like 2 or 3 days. Oh and you know I packed up every Bliss product in the bathroom to take home. And I also stole the copy of Dwell in our room.
We went to Earth and Ocean for dinner and it was ..."eh". No rave review there. It seemed they were trying too hard. Although the chocolate cake I had was To. Die. For. Sunday morning we slept in, went to Le Pichet for a fantastic little brunch and then headed to the Bodies exhibit at 800 Pike. Very very cool. The exhibit made me want to write a thank you note to my body: Dear Body, You're doing a great job despite all of the difficulties. Keep up the Good Work! Love, Emily
I had heard both good and bad reviews of the exhibit. Many bad reviews were from squeamish people. No need to be squeamish. It was beautifully done and was not at all disrespectful to the cadavers. I wished now that I had brought Hadley. I eavesdropped on some fascinating medical conversations (the medical folk tend to flock to this exhibit I am told...)and smiled to myself as I found more and more people explaining their own ailments to friends while 2 inches from the display. I picked up a book called Stiff:The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers in the gift shop which I'm very excited about. Looks like an interesting read...
