I got this flyer/coupon in the mail for Gymboree, the kids clothes store, and on the back is says “Find new sizes…slim, plus and husky”. Whose idea was this? Isn’t that awful? What’s the difference between plus and husky? I’m already imagining the therapy bill for the poor 6 year old girl who is wearing something with the size “husky” written on it.
Our Holiday weekend was lovely and quiet. We spend tons of time together as Team Provost. It’s nice to have nowhere to be and to just be together. Hadley has been working on riding her bike without training wheels so that was a hot topic. For the 4th, we went to our friend’s house for dinner. It was a grand time with tons of food, drinks and nekkid children running around. My friend Elizabeth (N., not M. – hm…note to self: anoint one of these two with a nickname) is magical in that she has tons of energy and good ideas to keep wee ones entertained. I just tried to avoid miniature sticky hands, kept close watch on the French onion dip (with Ruffles…hello I love you…) and spouted my opinions around for all to enjoy. Finn fell and cut his mouth mid party so I sported a blood stained sleeve for the rest of the evening. He was instantly calmed when he saw a hamburger on his plate and soon gobbled it up. The kids were asleep by 7:15 and I was in bed by 10:30. Never even saw a firework. No matter.
Today is a Wednesday and I am enjoying the silence. Going to take in a showing of The Devil Wears Prada in a little while. It’s the perfect day for it.
I watched 5 back to back episodes of Sex and the City last night and it made me miss my personal posse B,E and C. It made me miss Charlie Brown’s and cigarettes and Denver summers, vodka tonics with extra lime and non stop laughing. That show and Kathy Griffin’s show on Bravo are like being with them. Claire is coming up in 17 days! Then there is talk of seeing the ELKs at the end of August. Hello, fantastic. I love things to look forward to. I’ll see Reeba (and Em again!) at the end of September when I go to Denver for my sister’s baby shower. I’m throwing it for her at Le Central, a French restaurant we both love in Denver. We’re going for a slightly less traditional baby shower. I hope it doesn’t suck.
Big hugs go out to the parents of Ruby and Grace. We miss you guys.
And finally, these shoes are having the Best Week Ever! Dearest Gucci shoes…be nice to your new owner.
