A place of disorder and randomness, otherwise known as my life

I have been wondering the same thing. I have been here I suppose, neck deep in sickness. Peter was out of work for a week with the flu. The kids AND Peter had pink eye…it never ends. I feel like so much has happened and yet nothing has happened, except everyone being sick. Have I mentioned everyone is sick and if I have to wipe one more freaking nose I’m going to lose it?

I haven’t been to yoga in over a week because my instructor James is out of town and in his place is a stereo with a yoga CD. No thanks.

Meg got into town on Saturday and it has been insane fantastic. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard I wasn’t making noise. That’s a great feeling. I’ve been feeling bad lately but having her here takes my mind off of things. (or maybe that’s the pain killers…)At every chance we get, we sneak away to lay in bed together and watch shite TV (8th and Ocean anyone?) or read mags. Oh, how I love my sissie. She leaves tomorrow and I already have that “summer camp is over” feeling. I’ll try hard not to cry. I’m not promising anything.

On Sunday morning we went to the spa to get a pedicure and had lunch there as well. Perfection. There is something about pretty toes. I swear, it makes life a little sweeter. I kept squealing sounding like Jackee from 227.

How great is this picture? I took it this afternoon. I was actually trying to take a picture of Hadley and Finn walked by, squatted down and front of the camera and said “cheese!” I was laughing so hard I pushed the button.

Having Meg here has helped me kick start a healthier diet too. She’s the queen of fruits and vegetables and loves to get her fiber on. I didn’t say “healthy”, I said “healthier”…ain’t no way to be healthy when there is an entire cake from the Cakearia downstairs. Chocolate White Chocolate for Meg’s 30th celebration. I keep inventing reasons to have a teeny slice.  Swept the driveway. CAKE! Should we have cake after lunch? How about some pre-dinner cake? It is sooooooooo good.  Total party in your mouth. I can’t even describe it except to say that a spa pedicure+that cake+my sister being here makes for one happy Emily. If the adult onset acne on my chin would excuse itself from the picture, all would be well.

In closing, I would like to bid a fond adieu to my box of Girl Scout Samoas.

We had a grand time this year, you and I. We shared some good times. That one time I ate four while watching Oprah. That one time I snuck one when the kids weren’t looking and all of the other times I just gleefully gobbled you wondering how someone could ever concoct such gooey goodness. I used to only love Tagalongs. I was foolish and young. You have won me over. See you next year, friend.
