A place of disorder and randomness, otherwise known as my life

Happy Anniversary to us. Peter and I have been married for 5 years. Seems like forever and sometimes it feels like 10 minutes. He took the day off yesterday and we played all day. Lunch, movie (The Constant Gardener – fantastic) at Metro in Seattle, and sushi at Rikki Rikki. It was a glorious day. (note to self: try to eat sushi at least once a week, if not more. It gives me an all over body buzz.)We also went to the DMV to FINALLY get our Washington Driver’s Licenses. I’m delighted to check that off my to do list after a freaking year. What normally is a monotonous, hideous errand turned into a lovely excursion because we were together. Peter is my most favorite person in the whole world and I adore him more than words can say. I love you Peter P and am proud and honored to be your wife.

Today is also Veteran’s Day and my Dad wrote a letter to the Denver Post about it. You can read it here. Scroll down through the letters. It’s called “Remembering Veterans”, by Roger Padden, Littleton, CO.

Lots of other stuff going on in my head. Let’s start with the important stuff. Page 356 of Vogue this month has a profile on the model Jacquetta Wheeler and her Morrocan Bohemian style. I coveted every damn thing in the profile. A Matthew Williamson dress that I dream about wearing as well as other cool finds. While I love love love reading VOGUE (recently got a subscription for a mere $15) I fear it gives me a horrible case of the “GIMMES” also known as the “HAVETOHAVES”. Hm. It’s clashing with my new philosophy of “Be happy with what you have and where you are”….There was a really good article on Reese Witherspoon though, whom I adore. She’s smart, positive, grounded and has that air of being a little anal, which I relate to.

The latest products that I need to investigate are the perfume Fracas (which Emily said sounded like a French word for causing a ruckus. That is still making me laugh. Everyone should have their own personal VanDerhule) and Fresh’s Brown Sugar Body Polish. Hello Delicious. My name is Emily. It’s nice to meet you.

Two Things that I saw in Safeway yesterday that made me laugh:

1. A little teapot plate that said “The Tea Bagger” on it. Now, for most people this would seem like a cutesy little thing were you put your used tea bag or maybe your spoon. The phrase “tea bagging” is also used for other things, which are disgusting and make me laugh all the same time.

2. While getting into the car with Hadley after our Safeway jaunt, I hear the Little Mermaid soundtrack. Specifically the song “Part of Your World”. I look over to the car next to me and there sits a 40 year old man, eating grapes, staring out the front window listening to this song at full blast. I smiled because it was actually refreshing to see a cuckoo out here in Suburbia. I miss them.
