Lately we’ve been having conversations. It’s so weird/fantastic. Now that she’s older she has opinions about things and suggestions. I also think it’s funny when she tells me things that I have told her. (Ex: “Mom, you have to put your napkin in your lap. Like this. See?? There you go.”)
I find her infinitely fascinating. Today we sat and had lunch together and I just soaked her up. Here is an actual conversation:
H: (while standing on her chair eating her lunch) Mom, I see that fly flying around the room. I like flies but I think he’s a little bit scared of us. (dance dance wiggle wiggle)
Me: Yes, I think he probably is. We’re much bigger than he is.
H: (thinking) Yeah. Mom? Are we going to Disneyland when I’m 5? (wiggle wiggle stomp stomp)
Me: Yes sweetie, we are. (She was asking every day for a while. Peter decided to throw out “When you’re 5 we’ll go”. She continues to ask every day.)
H: (thinking and chewing) Mom? I miss Uncle Vince and Meggie and Bijou. Can we see them? Bijou is my best friend. Ben is my best friend at school. Can Owen and Lyla and Ben come to my house? (stares off out window while yanking on leotard)
Me: Sure, honey. Sometime….
H: Do you want to see my underwear?
I said “Sure!” and she yanks down her leotard to show me her Barbie underwear. After showing me she stares at me for a good while then gently strokes my cheek and says “I love you dear.”
The next time I want to hang a sign around her neck that says “BEST OFFER” and put her in the front yard will someone remind me of this moment please?
